2020 marks the kick-off for Grazebrook School’s Eco Council.

The Council is led by parent and Hackney Council Recycling Officer - Kelly Sullivan & Yr. 1 Teacher - Mr. Ire Smith

The Eco-Schools Programme is pupil-led, involving hands-on learning that gets the whole school and the wider community involved in exciting environmental projects.

Schools with are provided with FREE resources for each of the Seven Steps to help you progress to the international Eco-Schools Green Flag award within 12 months of registration. Schools do not need to pay for additional support from third parties. On top of this our experienced team of former teachers are here to support you and can be contacted throughout the year to answer your questions.

To make the Eco-Schools programme more manageable and to fit into term time, participating schools will complete an online, self-assessed Bronze Award and Silver Award as they progress to Green Flag success.

There are ten topics that schools can pick from to help focus their Eco-Schools work. All topics can be easily incorporated into school life and curriculum regardless of the age of your pupils. Schools must work on the following:

  • Three topics for the Silver Award and Green Flag

  • Five topics for Green Flag renewals (every two years) changing two of the five topics with every subsequent renewal.
